Walmart Trample - Indicative of Blind Selfishness

A Wal-Mart employee in suburban New York died after being trampled by a crush of shoppers who tore down the front doors and thronged into the store early Friday morning, turning the annual rite of post-Thanksgiving bargain hunting into a frenzy. Reference

The only reason something as such occured is because the people entering the store were entirely focused on what they were going to purchase. Their mindset was “I need to get that before someone else does”. People were so engrossed on acquiring items they actually trampled over someone else. I have heard the term tunnel vision used and it seems applicable to this occurence. Simply incredible that people could run past another person lying on the floor, most likely not moving, or at minimum apparently in distress. A person does not die instantly from being trampled therefore people continued to run past the injured employee.

This is an example of widespread selfishness. People were incredibly overwhelmed with the idea of saving money during these economically miserable times; so overwhelmed that money was more important than life.

Virtualbox Official iPhone Support

The recent Virtualbox update comes equipped with official iPhone support. There was a previous patch/hack released which modified the usb kernel module in Ubuntu distributions, but this was not an easy fix for other distributions. The new release makes iPhone use with iTunes nice and easy. Linux users have been long awaiting the ability to sync their iPhone in a Windows XP virtual machine; we wanted this to ditch are completely unnecessary Windows partitions and now we can. So go for it everyone, delete that Windows partition and load up some new free space for all those extra tid bits we have on our computers.

Linux the Future - Yippe I Will Eventually Have a Job

With the economy uncertain and Microsoft Vista failing to gain overwhelming acceptance, many IT departments are considering a migration to Linux. Reference

I don’t know when it will be, but its coming quick. The simple reason that companies need to pay for Windows products will lead to abandonment. Why pay for products when you can get the same work done for free. Linux is clearly the solution, and with rapidly developing systems such as Ubuntu, there is no reason in the near future to continue to pay the large license requirements of Microsoft products.

Ubuntu has faster security updates than Windows, and is substantially at less risk to infection and spyware. Right now Linux implementation seems to be a no brainer, but corporation are stubborn and are hanging on to the tail of a dying elephant. Windows products are paid for by corporations because there is an underlying notion that paying for a product gets better support; but this metholodoly is quickly failing. Open source products have the benifit of millions of eyes to fix bugs, and make improvements. Open source will produce superior products by all means, and all that is needed is a little more time for the status quo of Open Source products to reach the stability and reliability requirements of enterprise applications. For servers Apache is the status quo; open source. For desktops Microsoft still reigns because the software requirements are much more daugnting. With projects broken down substantially, such as Gnome, and KDE desktop environments the development of independently stable applications is inevitable.

Wireless Electricity - What Tesla Started

Started over 100 years ago by Nikola Tesla, the concept of transmitting electricity wirelessly is catching on fast. The dominant player is intel, but smaller companies such as Wild Charge prove that there is something substantive and viable making the recharging of devices easier and more convenient. While Wild Charge does not transmit energy wireless it does substantially simplify the recharging process.

Resonant inductance can sync magnetic fields in such a way that power apparently flows, or jumps, empty space. Based on the fundamental properties of inductors and magnetic fields devices that require recharging will not require a direct connection to draw power. A rechargeable device can be situated nearby the power source, and without a wired connection can successfully draw enough energy to recharge the device.

Tesla was a big dreamer and envisioned this type of technology transmitting energy all over the world. He wanted to sync the Earth’s magnetic field with devices; now thats big. Without a doubt he was ahead of his time, and there were and are definitely effects on biological systems. The extend that genetic, and molecular damage can occur is unclear, but without a doubt the concent originated by Tesla is effective at transmitting energy wirelessly.

What if your Dream is Impossible to Achieve?

Posted on by nseidm1.
Categories: desire, dream, exit, job.

Where should the line be drawn between dreaming and being delusional? How long should someone wait before realizing a dream is impossible? How long should someone try to attain a dream before realizing time is being wasted?

Sometimes I have a great sense of unease contemplating these topics. I have dreams, big ideas that I would like to achieve. Are they reasonable? They are indeed rational and possible, but are they likely? I don’t know. They are definitely not going to happen right now. I will have to wait, but waiting is not easy, and it continuously breaks off pieces of your soul.

What is peace of mind? What does it feel like? Is it that feeling when you just wake up in the morning? Is it excitement? I find life strange. I don’t think there is purpose to life; although its obvious that people can assign a fabricated purpose to it. Assigning purpose is a means of justifying desires and ones existence. If a person has no purpose, and there is no reason to exist that definitely leads to depression. Having a purpose is exciting, but achieving your designated purpose is not always instantaneous; and waiting is frustrating.

I guess a lot of how I feel is because of the economic meltdown in the US. I basically graduated college and the US job market evaporated leaving little opportunity to achieve big things. Basically the job market is in survival mode, meaning that if you can bring in 20-30K per year you are lucky. Minimum wage jobs are even hard to find!

What Can I do? Why is it so Tough? Options, What Options?

Posted on by nseidm1.
Categories: achieve, failure, money, philanthropist, progress, wealth.

There are millions of people in America with millions of dollars that do not appreciate what they have. They waste money on large homes, stuff, items, and cosas. Its simply incredible and nauseating at the same time. I wish I had the opportunity to achieve such a level of wealth, and can assure that the opportunity would not be wasted. I would save and not run debt. I would create and not only consume. I would produce and not destroy. I would provide and not take. I would help and not only receive. I would strive and not just be. I crave accomplishment and I cannot achieve; my current employment is incredible soul destructive. I am making no progress, not a single step. I save peanuts, a little bit of money. I completely understand that savings, what so ever, is more than most Americans can do; but I have always consumed less than I want. Wants are irrelevant, and needs are few. Never surmounting your needs there will always be leftovers to save. But saving a little bit of money is useless; and will not lead to philanthropic liberty.  Without a gross accumulation of money it is impossible to achieve the freedom to be a philanthropist.

What options are available? What decisions can be made to take a different path in life? What else can be done other than going to college? Is is pure luck to be a successful entrepreneur? Is employment the maximum potential achievable? Even making 100k per year does not result in philanthropic freedom.

I break it down in my mind like this. Making a small amount of money allows you to live and not perish. Making anywhere in between, up to hundreds of thousands and millions allows people to be completely selfish, consume, patronize, ect…. It takes such a gross amount of money to become a philanthropist. Is it wrong to want to be a philanthropist? Is it wrong to be the opposite of selfish, and want to help other people? Is it wrong to think of other people more than yourself?

What is the path to success? What is success? Success is obviously defined subjectively, but in general objective success involves making progress of some sort. I dream of achieve my subjective success, but I cannot even achieve a modicum of objective success; I feel like I am making zero progress. I’ll say something like this to my father and he will say writing this blog post I am actually making progress, and I shouldn’t feel this way. But I do feel this way, and his subjective opinion that I am making progress does not satisfy this unachievable craving I feel to make something, or do something, or achieve something. I can definitely say it is a strong feeling of unease. I do not believe its anxiety because I do sleep and can relax. But always in the back of my mind is a sense of frustration, which is bordering on dam near failure.
